  • Guidelines for call for issues

Comunicar offers the opportunity to submit special issues. Potential Special Issue Editors may propose to the Editorial Board specific themes which fall within the scope of the journal.

The Editors for each special issue should be two or three appropriate researchers drawn from the international academic community, taking into account the full range of geographical contexts concerned (especially Spanish and English-speaking contexts as the official languages of the journal).

Special issues should extend the boundaries of knowledge and have an original approach which fosters the emergence of new academic perspectives with international impact and high visibility that significantly advance the state of the subject under consideration.

Special Issue Editors will design a call for papers in both Spanish and English which (CFP) present an original and relevant approach and include the rationale, description and key issues to be considered within the theme of the special issue. They will also prepare a brief and presentation video for the call for papers of professional standard and in both Spanish and English. This will facilitate its inclusion in the publicity for the edition in question and its indexation in YouTube.

On the part of Comunicar, the special issue can rely on its publicity, impact and international profile.

The Special Issue Editors will take part in Editorial Meetings, along with the Editorial Board of Comunicar (Editor in Chief and Associate Editors) with the purpose of selecting the best evaluated manuscripts that will contribute to the special issue in question.

The special issue proposed by the Special Issue Editors does not ever imply the commitment to publish any articles previously accepted since Comunicar follows a strict policy of external peer review.

Approved special issues will be publicised widely within the international academic community: official website, social and academic networks, wider media, academic repositories… Comunicar currently has an agreement with RTVE (the Spanish national broadcaster) for the presentation of special edition topics in its Aventura del Saber (The Adventure of Knowledge) programme. The Special Issue Editors will also give maximum exposure to the CFP throughout the period in which it is open, via their contact lists, blogs, websites, repositories, social media and academic networks, professional associations and relevant conferences.

Once the special issue proposal has been accepted by the Editorial Board, the Special Issue Editors will sign a Collaboration Agreement with includes publicity and financial support for the distribution and production of the issue concerned.
