Abstract
In societies in which historically two languages have lived side by side, one of which is in disadvantage in comparison to the other, what role can mass media play towards the teaching of that second language and its definitive and 'peaceful' consolidation within a bilingual population? This article aims to answer this question on the basis of a specific bilingual situation, like that of Galicia.
