Resumo

A recente explosão das ferramentas e serviços de comunicação, durante as últimas décadas, levantou novas perguntas além da compreensão da pedagogia atual nos estudos de comunicação na Índia. A sociedade indiana foi testemunha de uma muito extensa proliferação de tecnologias midiáticas, a tal ponto que se tornaram onipresentes no meio social. Contudo, a educação midiática na Índia continua sendo uma área de estudos quase inexplorada. Esta contribuição apresenta a necessidade de uma educação midiática de uma perspectiva não elitista, ao mesmo tempo em que propõe seu posicionamento como uma nova pedagogia, mesmo reconhecendo que os resultados da pesquisa sobre a efetividade da educação midiática são praticamente inexistentes.
