孩子們日常生活中接觸的音樂對他們認知自己周圍的世界有著非常重要的作用，電視配樂以及孩子們對現實世界的直接體驗，是他們認知世界的一個重要資訊來源。此研究是一個更為關闊的研究專案的一部分。那個更為廣闊的研究旨在抽樣調查兒童在拉丁美洲和西班牙的電視節目中會聽到什麼樣的音樂。具體來說，本文通過符號學的理論框架，以定量和音樂學的研究方法，集中關注西班牙語的兒童節目。“los lunnis”被選出作為初步研究的課題，用此節目中的90個樣本來分析它的音樂內容。結果表明，這檔節目將音樂既用為主打專案，又用其做背景元素。最常見的形式是伴奏的頌歌和聲音的採用，電子樂器的音效，雙重音，頻繁使用，雙重音和調製過的大音階被頻繁使用。音樂作品有時被刪減且旋律節奏有時候並不動聽；主要風格都是外國流行音樂，很少涉及古典音樂和戲曲影視配樂。這些資料顯示了目前在文化、傳承、及認知結構方面，音樂的影響都沒有被研究者所重視。雖然這些方面的研究也存在，不過都是從符號語言學，音樂表示形式分析和重組理論的角度進行的。
