Resumo

As mídias digitais estão presentes em todos os âmbitos da sociedade e se configuram, inclusive, como um novo espaço para a socialização política. Isso é especialmente aplicável no caso dos jovens devido a seu uso elevado das novas tecnologias, estando capacitados, também, com habilidades necessárias para tal. Nesse contexto, as redes sociais propiciam o surgimento de um novo tipo de participação política: a que ocorre online. Portanto, este estudo investiga a relação existente entre a socialização produzida na rede, as habilidades digitais e a participação política online e offline. A metodologia utilizada é a quantitativa, a partir da realização de questionários feitos a jovens universitários do México, Espanha e Chile. O trabalho de campo desenvolveu-se entre os meses de dezembro de 2017 e junho de 2018. Os resultados obtidos mostram que os jovens consomem principalmente mídias digitais, o que impede que sejam críticos em relação à qualidade das mesmas. Desse modo, as ações de participação política nas quais os jovens se envolvem ocorre em sua maioria online e, em menor medida, offline. Portanto, os jovens se introduzem no mundo da política através da internet, mediante o consumo de informações, o que favorece uma posterior participação política online.
