Resumo

Os processos de confinamento social causados pela crise global da saúde (COVID-19) obrigaram os professores a assumirem novas competências investigativas que lhes permitissem melhorar os indicadores de ciências e contribuir para a cultura de pesquisa na era digital para a região latino-americana. Este artigo analisa a cultura de pesquisa de professores latino-americanos de 20 países, na era digital e sua relação com a produção de documentos científicos indexados no Journal Citation Report (JCR) entre 1996 e 2019. Foi aplicado um questionário (com critérios de validade e confiabilidade) com escala do tipo Likert para 2.215 professores provenientes de cinco eventos científicos internacionais. Os principais resultados mostram que 78% dos professores têm menos de 15 anos de experiência docente, com idades que não ultrapassam os 44 anos e um nível acadêmico de 38,9% na graduação. Destes, por sua vez, 62,5% responderam que nunca publicaram em periódicos indexados, também desconhecendo a aplicação adequada dos paradigmas e desenhos de pesquisa. Por outro lado, 23,86% do total de citações são autocitações. Portanto, os resultados refletem uma relação significativa entre a cultura de pesquisa do professor e a produção científica latino-americana. Finalmente, os professores latino-americanos têm se deparado com circunstâncias econômicas, políticas e sociais que afetam as boas práticas em pesquisa e publicação científica, explicitando uma lacuna de formação em competências de pesquisa na nova era digital.
