Resumo

A exposição a conteúdos nocivos, notícias falsas e discursos de ódio nos faz pensar se os cidadãos são “responsáveis” quando se trata de seu comportamento online. Este estudo exploratório visa posicionar a literacia noticiosa como fator mediador para a promoção da responsabilidade cívica, investigando o seu papel na melhoria da experiência dos jovens com as notícias online, preparando-os contra conteúdos nocivos. A literacia noticiosa é definida como um conceito multiestrutural com três componentes principais: motivação, conhecimento e competências. Um dos objetivos do estudo é aprofundar a experiência de jovens com notícias online, avaliando seu nível de alfabetização jornalística por meio de uma abordagem de métodos mistos com base em discussões de grupos focais e em um questionário. O estudo é aplicado a uma amostra de jovens do Egito e outra de jovens da Espanha, a partir da qual é realizada uma análise comparativa. Os resultados revelam uma correlação positiva entre o letramento jornalístico e a capacidade de identificar notícias falsas e discursos de ódio, engajamento com notícias, preocupação com a veracidade do conteúdo antes de compartilhá-lo e motivação para buscar notícias. Os entrevistados de ambos os países expressaram percepções negativas sobre a eficácia da mídia profissional, com a principal justificativa de que a mídia não está cumprindo seu papel como deveria.
