Resumo

O papel das mídias digitais e da aprendizagem são frequentemente sinônimo do uso de recursos educacionais abertos em ambientes institucionais formais. Além disso, a aprendizagem aberta e a distância (EAD) tem sido criticada por se concentrar estritamente em objetivos educacionais, ignorando as questões sociopolíticas de acesso e de participação de populações marginalizadas. Este estudo examina as experiências de vida de um grupo de trabalhadoras domésticas migrantes (N = 20) em Cingapura que frequentam a Open University. As mídias móveis e as redes sociais complementam os recursos da EAD para permitir as práticas abertas de consumo, a produção e o intercâmbio em contextos distribuídos de aprendizagem digital. Os estudantes marginalizados intervêm em atividades participativas e colaborativas, com práticas de privacidade específicas de acordo com as suas posições sociais. A aprendizagem digital levou a um conhecimento substancial para o empoderamento pessoal e a transformação social, com estratégias de aspiração que frequentemente envolvem habilidades digitais. A discussão reflete sobre a gestão de identidades em ambientes digitais formais e informais como uma forma de transformar os discursos sociais de discriminação.
