Resumo

A análise da influência das redes sociais no processo de aprendizagem já não é uma novidade. No entanto, devido à sua importância para os alunos e, consequentemente, para os professores, a literatura científica segue atenta ao potencial pedagógico das redes sociais. O principal objetivo desta pesquisa foi analisar a influência do papel do professor (como guia e facilitador) sobre a participação social no Twitter e a experiência acadêmica percebida pelos estudantes. A amostra foi composta por 525 futuros professores, alunos de pós-graduação na Universidade Nacional de Educação a Distância. Foram utilizados um método misto de triangulação, um modelo teórico, uma parte quantitativa (análise descritiva e contraste de mídias) e também um qualitativo (análise de conteúdo, seguindo os princípios da teoria fundamentada). Os resultados mostraram que o papel facilitador do professor influencia positivamente na avaliação da experiência pelos alunos e na participação no Twitter, em maior proporção que o papel de guia. Por um lado, conclui-se que o uso de redes sociais, no campo da educação, fornece um marco motivacional e de satisfação que outras mídias mais tradicionais não fornecem, como os fóruns, e, por outro lado, que uma função que facilita um processo de aprendizagem independente é a melhor estratégia quando falamos de redes sociais na sala de aula.
