Резюме

С распространением социальных сетей в цифровую эпоху доступ к новостям в социальных сетях стал повседневной практикой в жизни студентов университетов. Однако было проведено минимальное количество исследований по использованию новостей в социальных сетях, особенно в азиатских странах. Чтобы заполнить этот пробел, мы стремимся рассмотреть, что мотивировало студентов университетов искать новости в социальных сетях, в какой степени они ощущали, что контролируют влияние новостей, и связаны ли мотивы новостей с их уровнем медийной грамотности в трех областях: а) авторы и аудитория; б) послания и смыслы; в) представление и реальность. В общей сложности 147 студентов из одного университета Гонконга приняли участие. Среди четырех мотивов социализация была самым мощным индикатором. Большинство учащихся считали, что они могут контролировать влияние новостей, демонстрируя высокую медийную грамотность. Учащиеся с высокой медийной грамотностью более склонны искать новости для социализации, чем их малограмотные сверстники. Обсуждались перспективы обучения учащихся позитивному и разумному использованию социальных сетей.
