Resumo

O presente estudo está centrado na relação entre pré-adolescentes e youtubers, com o objetivo de observar como os primeiros integram os youtubers como referência de uma cultura digital juvenil. Com base numa perspectiva sociopsicológica e comunicativa, foi aplicado um desenho metodológico misto para levar a cabo o estudo de audiência organizado em duas partes: uma análise quantitativa da audiência através de um questionário administrado a 1.406 estudantes entre onze e doze anos de institutos na Catalunha, e uma análise qualitativa da audiência pré-adolescente a partir de três grupos focais. Os dados quantitativos foram analisados com SPSS e os qualitativos com a ajuda do programa Atlas.ti. Os resultados demonstram que os pré-adolescentes consideram os youtubers referências para o entretenimento por sua proximidade a uma cultura digital juvenil, mas não realmente modelos ou portadores de valores como «influencers». Além disso, os pré-adolescentes mostram alguma dimensão de Alfabetização Midiática, ao identificar as estratégias comerciais dos youtubers e seus papéis profissionais. O estudo dá conta de um viés de gênero em alguns aspectos e tem como resultado uma introdução à observação sobre as funções sociais dos youtubers entre os adolescentes, pessoas que estão em pleno processo de construção de suas identidades e a ponto de se converterem em jovens adultos.
