Abstract

This study reflects on some possibilities for the consumption of culture based on an experience of watching films at movie theaters and on television. Considering that television is the media through which most Brazilian children have access to films exhibited in the cinema, understanding how children relate to films on television can be important to consider possible educational mediations in the construction of various mediatic abilities and for the experience of signification. The purpose of the study is to broaden the understanding about the way with which children relate to films, to understand how their emotions are stimulated and how the strategies of construction of meaning produce behaviors, values, feelings and knowledge. To understand these practices from various perspectives, the study sought perspectives that dialog with theories about the distance and similarity between cinema and television. It also presents the voices of children from different social-cultural contexts about this issue to then imagine how this question can be interpreted in the «poetry» of some songs. The initial question is raised again and the proposal of possible meanings suggests the importance of educational mediation in the construction of a theoretical, reflexive and aesthetic practice, which considering the poetic and contemporary thought of artists and children, can be a practice and a cultural consumption that is also a type of poetry.
