Resumo

Poder entender os fatores que predizem o uso excessivo das redes sociais na adolescência pode ajudar a prevenir problemas como comportamentos aditivos, solidão ou bullying virtual. O principal objetivo é explorar o perfil psicológico e social dos adolescentes que usam excessivamente as redes sociais. Participaram 1.102 adolescentes de 11 a 18 anos de Girona (Espanha). Foram agrupados os que realizavam um uso excessivo e foi explorado o seu perfil de personalidade (NEO FFI, NEO PI-R e autoconceito AF5), e o perfil social (apoio social percebido, tipologia autoatribuída de uso das TICs na família e normas de uso das TICs no lar). A incidência de uso excessivo foi de 12, 8%, sendo maior entre as meninas. O perfil de personalidade se caracterizou pelo neuroticismo, a impulsividade e um menor autoconceito familiar, acadêmico e emocional. O perfil social foi definido pela elevada utilização das TICs percebida nas mães e irmãos e por não dispor de normas de uso. Os fatores de proteção foram: a responsabilidade, ter normas de uso e ser menino, e os de risco: o uso das redes sociais para se distrair e se divertir, e a elevada percepção de consumo dos irmãos. Sugere-se desenvolver intervenções baseadas no gênero e trabalhar o uso responsável das TICs no ambiente familiar para prevenir problemáticas psicológicas mais graves.
