Resumo

Tendo em conta que não a pesquisa não se preocupou em estudar como os alunos do ensino fundamental fazem uso do Facebook para a aprendizagem informal e como este potencializa o capital social, o presente trabalho tenta preencher essa lacuna com sessenta entrevistas em profundidade e relatórios de pensamentos em voz alta com alunos de escolas primárias eslovenas. Para analisar o perfil do Facebook também incluímos uma análise de conteúdo. Os resultados do estudo demostram que os alunos eslovenos utilizam com frequência o Facebook para a aprendizagem informal. O estudo não só mostra que os estudantes são conscientes do uso do Facebook para a aprendizagem e o utilizam em primeiro lugar como apoio social, mas também oferecem amostras de intercâmbio prático de informação, aprendizagem de tecnologia, (auto)avaliação, apoio emocional, organização de grupo de trabalho e comunicação com os professores. Com o uso do Facebook, os estudantes adquirem competências relacionais e vinculação de capital social, pois mantêm uma ampla rede de amizades capazes de gerar relações mais profundas com apoio emocional e fontes de união. As principais diferenças entre os participantes referem-se à expressão de apoio emocional. As participantes femininas preferem usar o Facebook para tais fins e expressam com mais facilidade suas emoções. O estudo mostra ainda que nossos participantes percebem uma conexão entre o uso do Facebook e o conhecimento e destrezas que eles pensavam que seus professores valorizavam na escola.
