Resumo

Este artigo apresenta os desafios e as atuais oportunidades quanto à distribuição de conteúdos virtuais e online dentro das instituições de ensino superior politécnicas. Devido à atual recessão econômica, muitos são os estudantes que retornam para o mundo acadêmico a fim de atualizar suas habilidades e conhecimentos. No entanto, frequentemente os estudantes com esse perfil não estão dispostos a deixar de lado seu trabalho ou sua vida pessoal para voltar a estudar. Nesse contexto, a aprendizagem online representa uma excelente oportunidade para se ter acesso a conteúdos acadêmicos sem ter que deixar de lado o trabalho. Contudo, para garantir o êxito da provisão de materiais online para estudantes aprendizes, as instituições politécnicas de todo o mundo devem enfrentar dois desafios: a transformação de conteúdos de aprendizagem prática em objetos de aprendizagem online, e a criação de ambientes educativos nos quais os estudantes sintam-se envolvidos e participantes. Ainda assim, em um ambiente de aprendizagem no qual o uso da tecnologia Web 2.0 é primordial, vale considerar também a nova função do professor, que se transformou em facilitador da aprendizagem. Com a finalidade de analisar a experiência educativa online desses estudantes, foram distribuídos 57 questionários entre os estudantes matriculados em programas de formação online. O artigo apresenta as conclusões da pesquisa e as compara com a literatura a respeito da nova geração de estudantes e seu uso das tecnologias, assim como o comportamento registrado pela amostra da pesquisa (preferências e estilos de aprendizagem, seu uso das novas tecnologias). Existem iguais oportunidades inovadoras para conectar aprendizagem e contexto laboral e recomendações para futuras pesquisas.
