Resumo

A generalização do uso de redes sociais pelos jovens levou a um aumento notável de publicações sobre elas e sobre os seus efeitos no desenvolvimento psicossocial dos usuários. As tentativas prévias de uma revisão panorâmica acerca das redes estão desatualizadas e não fornecem uma visão abrangente da complexidade da experiência de uso. Os objetivos desta revisão sistemática atualizada são: identificar estudos quantitativos sobre as redes; construir uma taxonomia sobre a experiência de uso, e classificar as variáveis estudadas através de temas e subtemas. A busca e a revisão de literatura seguindo a estratégia PICoS identificou 546 estudos que cumprem os critérios de inclusão. A taxonomia incluiu nove principais temáticas investigadas: descrição e quantificação do uso; atividades e tipos de utilização; percepção e atitudes influentes no uso; rede social de contatos; necessidades e razões de uso; gerenciamento de perfil e privacidade; processos sociais; processos de identidade, e processos cognitivo-emocionais. Os três temas mais estudados foram: a descrição e a quantificação do uso; as atividades e os tipos de uso, e os processos sociais relacionados ao uso. São detalhadas a classificação, a quantificação e a integração das diversas variáveis estudadas sobre a experiência de uso, além de serem discutidas as diferentes tradições do estudo, bem como as lacunas, os problemas e os desafios da pesquisa sobre redes. Essa taxonomia será útil para que os pesquisadores possam delinear melhor os objetivos de estudos futuros.
