Resumo

O discurso de ódio é um grande problema, especialmente no ambiente político, onde gera polarização e conflito social. Não existem estudos laboratoriais experimentais que tenham analisado seus mecanismos de ação usando registros biométricos para avaliar a emoção negativa implícita causada por esses discursos, apesar da importância essencial da emoção nesse problema. O objetivo deste trabalho é investigar, em uma amostra universitária, a interação entre a ideologia do emissor e do receptor (progressista versus conservadora) e o tipo de mensagem (ódio versus não ódio) nas cognições (percepção de credibilidade da mensagem e do emissor) e emoção negativa (biométrica e autorrelatada). A emoção biométrica foi avaliada por meio do registro da variabilidade intercardíaca e da resposta dermoelétrica. Os resultados destacam a importância de avaliar respostas biométricas implícitas que revelam dados inacessíveis por meio de outras metodologias: os conservadores mostram maior emoção em seus registros biométricos do que nos auto-relatados. Com essas medidas, também são detectados efeitos de dessensibilização do ódio em ambos os públicos. Com medidas autorreferidas, maior emoção negativa é detectada em audiências progressistas apenas quando o emissor é contrário a sua ideologia. Em contraste, os conservadores mostram menos emoção negativa em todos os casos. Esses resultados são interpretados como consequência de pressão normativa e viés de conformidade intragrupo.
