Resumo

Este artigo analisa o estabelecimento de normas por parte dos pais aos seus filhos sobre a utilização da Internet nos lares. Os dados foram obtidos mediante entrevista sobre uma mostra representativa dos menores das Ilhas Baleares entre 6 e 16 anos de idade, analisando as seguintes questões: acesso de menores a Internet em casa, grau de autonomia ou acompanhamento na navegação, normatização impostas no lar por parte dos pais; tipos de normas impostas; relação entre normas e gênero; valorização dos menores dos conhecimentos e habilidades de seus pais para navegar pela Internet e, finalmente , o acompanhamento dos pais na hora de navegar pela Internet. Foi constatado que pouco mais de 53% dos menores entre 6 e 14 anos, e 62% deles de 15 e 16 anos navegam através da Internet sem que seus pais lhes estabeleçam limitações. Quando estabelecem algum tipo de normas, estas se referem, principalmente, a restrições de caráter temporário. Portanto, infere-se que os pais não são conscientes dos perigos da Rede ou que, pelo menos, agem de forma pouco ilógica. Eles mostram a necessidades de sensibilizar e formar as famílias para que assumam sua responsabilidade educativa.
