摘要

多年來,作為研究者和实践者,我們致力于进行建構高等教育靈活性的研究.在這個背景下,我們把高等教育的靈活性理解為对學生提供的選擇---以何種方式，何種內容，何時，何地，甚至同何人一起完成學習相關的活動。2001年，在一本教科書中，我們探討了此話題，並提出了那些可供高等教育階段學生選擇的意在增加其學習靈活性的措施。我們的研究不僅僅從學生的角度出發，也涉及教師及高等教育機構如何推行這些措施。同時，我們也研究了教育法的改變及高科技的應用如何促進了靈活性的提升。十年後的今天，我們要再次重溫高等教育靈活性的相關話題，從更寬廣的角度評估高等教育靈活性的實現程度，探索它的發展進程，以及審視它的發展是否和十多年前我們所預測的不一樣。我們也將回顧高等教育領域內與靈活性相關的各種變化，並將其與英國近期的情況相比較。我們的結論是，如十年前一樣，高等教育的靈活性在2011也將是一個重要的主題。
