數位化時代已經從根本上重構了製造者和使用者之間的相互關係。每一個使用者在網路環境中的行為都有被其他用戶重新解讀的潛在可能。媒體製造者的最初意圖是在這一過程中以重新語境化的形式出現。我稱這一形式為《數位化來世》。數位化來世的現象對於由年輕人製作的媒體有著顯著的啟示,在本文中,我通過這是一項人種志的、對一組和Youth Radio(一家加利福尼亞的年輕人組織)一起工作的年輕人幕後的行為的分析發掘了這一現象。年輕人在該組織中創造了頗具影響力的媒體。此處被審查的分析案例將注意力集中在Youth Radio中主要的調查性報告動議,一套在資深編輯的協助下、由一名21歲的記者製作的,關於誘迫兒童賣淫的跨媒體節目。本分析揭示了:年輕人的媒體,一旦它進入它的數位化來世,在內容被擁有自身的歷史、日程、以及政治經濟性的成人機構反復重新製作的情況下,變為非“年輕人媒體”的各種途徑。本文的結論認清了年輕人發明的、並通過他們在大眾和移動媒體領域的試驗來部署的文化素養的關鍵維度和要素。這些要素是:發現,分析,網路動員,以及平臺節目製作(platform programming)。
