Resumo

As abordagens predominantes no sistema educativo tradicional restringem as possibilidades de aprendizagem a ambientes formais e fechados. No entanto, as tecnologias móveis e as plataformas digitais estão transformando este paradigma, expandindo as possibilidades de aprendizagem. A partir dessa condição e no âmbito da produção de conhecimento entre pares, defendemos que a Wikipédia pode ser utilizada como um ambiente de aprendizagem aberto que cumpre vários propósitos: a) permite adquirir competências básicas; b) contribui com a inteligência coletiva; c) diminui a lacuna global de conhecimento; e, d) facilita a construção de redes globais de aprendizagem. Este estudo de caso tem como objetivo apresentar o processo, as estratégias e os resultados do projeto Wiki Learning como modelo de aprendizagem aberta através do uso da ferramenta Wikipédia em uma universidade mexicana. O projeto abrange desde a produção de artigos até oficinas para o desenvolvimento de capacidades dos professores e estudantes. Foram feitas pesquisas com 57 docentes e 115 alunos identificar a percepção sobre a Wikipédia, seu uso e posibilidades como ferramenta educativa. Os resultados demonstraram que apesar de todos os pesquisados utilizarem a enciclopédia, existe um desconhecimento geral sobre seu funcionamento, estrutura e comunidades, além de certa desconfiança. Isso representa um desafio para romper o estigma e recuperar o valor da gestão compartilhada do conhecimento, a finalidade da enciclopédia e seu lugar como produto de inteligência coletiva.
