Resumo
As tecnologias móveis são cada dia mais presentes nas salas de aula. Apesar de oferecerem oportunidades para facilitar a aprendizagem, inclusive a aquisição de uma segunda língua (L2), seu potencial continua sendo pouco explorado. O estudo em questão diz respeito aos aplicativos dos tablets para a prática da linguagem: embora permitam a escrita e tarefas similares às que podem ser feitas em papel, geralmente oferecem apenas exercícios de múltipla escolha ou de preenchimento de lacunas. Esta mudança de meio e de modalidade de prática poderia significar um impacto na aprendizagem de uma segunda língua. Baseada na perspectiva da cognição incorporada, nossa hipótese prediz que o fato de escrever se traduz num melhor processo de memorização e em uma melhor ortografia frente à digitação ou ao uso de exercícios de múltipla escolha. Esta hipótese foi comprovada em um estudo quase-experimental baseado na sala de aula: alunos (N=282) que praticaram vocabulário de francês através de três modalidades de prática: exercícios de múltipla escolha, escrita com teclado e escrita a mão libre. Se bem que foi verificado que as três modalidades de prática ajudaram no processo de aprendizagem, os resultados mostraram que os alunos que praticaram o vocabulário escrevendo com lápis ou com o tablet obtiveram pontuações mais altas em ortografia no domínio de sinais diacríticos, comparados com os alunos que fizeram exercícios de múltipla escolha. Conclui-se que passar mais tempo aprendendo vocabulário em um nível mais alto de processamento leva a uma maior aquisição de vocabulário.
