Resumo
A Wikipédia é um recurso muito utilizado por estudantes universitários, mas não é necessariamente bem avaliado em termos de confiabilidade e nem é visto como um ambiente para realizar contribuições de conteúdo. Este artigo apresenta um projeto de docência e pesquisa que consiste em propor que os estudantes editem ou criem artigos para a Wikipédia e comprovem se a experiência modifica a avaliação que fazem desse recuso. O experimento foi realizado na Universidade Pompeu Fabra (Espanha) e na Universidade de Niš (Sérvia) com um total de 240 alunos. Editaram artigos e responderam dois questionários, um antes e outro depois da experiência. As respostas foram comparadas mediante uma série de testes t para amostras pareadas, a partir das quais foi possível comprovar que os dados mostravam uma mudança significativa em sua percepção sobre a confiabilidade, a utilidade da Wikipédia e sobre a probabilidade de encontrar informações falsas nela. Mudou também a apreciação da tarefa de editar artigos, que foi avaliado como interessante e representou um desafio. Em contrapartida, sua avaliação sobre o prestígio social da Wikipédia, tanto no contexto universitário como no geral, não variou significativamente. Adicionalmente, as perguntas abertas e o feedback informal permitiram coletar informações muito valiosas a respeito da avaliação do conjunto da experiência.
