Uma revisão sistemática da literatura sobre as representações da migração no Brasil e no Reino Unido

Resumo

Nas últimas décadas, uma maior atenção acadêmica tem sido dada às interações entre imigração, cobertura da mídia, tipos de enquadramento e a ascensão do populismo. Este artigo revisa sistematicamente um grupo de artigos revisados por pares que tratam das representações midiáticas de imigrantes e refugiados no Brasil e no Reino Unido, a fim de identificar o tom dessas representações e os métodos de pesquisa utilizados. Esta é a primeira revisão sistemática da literatura comparando estudos de mídia e imigração que inclui uma amostra de países do Sul Global e do Norte Global. Este trabalho utilizou as diretrizes PRISMA para coletar, mapear e sistematizar 47 artigos revisados por pares publicados nas últimas duas décadas. Encontramos três tipos de tons nas mídias analisadas nos estudos de ambos os países, ordenados aqui da maior para a menor frequência: negativo, neutro e positivo. A mídia sub-representa os principais atores e usa estereótipos e discursos que traçam uma linha entre nós e os outros. Este trabalho contribui para nossa compreensão das diferenças entre os estudos realizados no Reino Unido e no Brasil, e indica a necessidade de mais estudos comparativos que incluam países do sul global e do norte global. Também demonstra a existência de padrões semelhantes de representação nos dois países.
