Resumo

A reduzida presença da mulher na esfera pública durante os anos sessenta e setenta refletia-se no repertório limitado de papéis (mãe e esposa, principalmente) que a ficção televisiva lhe atribuía. O impulso feminista das décadas seguintes estimulou as representações dos personagens femininos no âmbito profissional e a reflexão acadêmica sobre a construção social da mulher trabalhadora. Mas, apesar da relevância do papel profissional nas protagonistas da ficção atual, a relevância das relações sentimentais e da sexualidade reverteu no reduzido número de estudos sobre o assunto. Este artigo sintetiza os resultados de uma análise da mulher trabalhadora na ficção televisiva espanhola, integrado a um projeto sobre construção de identidades femininas. A pesquisa propõe uma metodologia original que combina métodos quantitativos e qualitativos (sócio-semiótica) para abordar o estudo de 709 personagens femininos. A pesquisa revela a convivência de estereótipos ligados às representações tradicionais dos empregos das mulheres (trabalhos relacionados com o atendimento ao público e a prestação de cuidados a pessoas) com outras profissões altamente qualificadas. No entanto, o empoderamento das mulheres com cargos de responsabilidade é frequentemente associado com uma caracterização negativa do personagem, enquanto os problemas de conciliação dos papéis familiares e profissionais são sistematicamente evitados.
